Mireille Fortier is a trained Counsellor and has many years of practice in individual, marital and group counseling. She obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Ottawa, a Certificate in Theology in and her Master’s Degree in Marital Counselling from St-Paul’s University. She is a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers since 2003. Currently, Mireille is providing therapy for clients who have sustained a brain injury and/or who have sustained severe impairments from their involvement in a personal injury or motor vehicle accident. She specializes in pain and anxiety management through various techniques such as relaxation and hypnosis, amongst others. She is also Social Worker for Adoption O.N.E. Mireille also has experience in management, teaching, networking, planning, and research.

Mireille is an Adoption Competent Counsellor. Having experienced adoption personally, Mireille quickly recognized the need for private adoption services in Northern Ontario. Through birth-parent counselling and with Adoption O.N.E, she helps offer more options to parents who chose adoption for their children and their family.

Mireille offers personalized services to parents across Ontario as they prepare for the most important decision in their lives. Through adoption counselling, she can assist families with attachment and all issues from adopting and being adopted. Adoptee counselling, she can assist adoptees with their struggles and questions that arise from being adopted.

This type of counseling is designed to support and guide birth parents as they navigate the emotional, psychological, and practical aspects of the decision-making process.

Adoption Counselling

Adoption counseling is a specialized form of counseling designed to provide emotional, psychological, and informational support to all individuals involved in the adoption process. This includes birth parents, adoptive parents, and adoptees. The focus of adoption counseling varies depending on the needs of the person or family receiving the service.

Trauma Counselling

Trauma counseling is a form of therapy that helps individuals process and heal from emotional, psychological, or physical trauma. Trauma can result from events such as abuse, accidents, natural disasters, war, loss, or other life-altering experiences. The goal of trauma counseling is to provide a safe, supportive environment where individuals can explore their experiences, reduce distressing symptoms, and regain a sense of control and stability.
